Left Fielder candidates:

Luis Tinoco - 1997

The Stats: .313 average (135 hits in 431 at bats), .406 OBP, .898 OPS, 31 doubles, 5 triples, 12 home runs, 71 runs batted in, 4 stolen bases

The Facts: Signed by the Seattle Mariners as an undrafted free agent out of Venezuela in 1992; Opening Day Age: 21

The Case:  Highest average, on base percentage, and OPS among the choices.  The youngest of the group by two years, Tinoco also had the most outfield assists with 14.

 

Mike Marchiano - 1998

The Stats: .288 average (128 hits in 444 at bats), .361 OBP, .823 OPS, 29 doubles, 3 triples, 14 home runs, 74 runs batted in, 13 stolen bases

The Facts: Seattle Mariners 20th round draft pick in 1997 out of Fordham University; Opening Day Age: 23

The Case:  Sure-handed outfielder (he committed only two errors the entire season) has solid numbers in all categories.

 

Juan Silvestre - 1999

The Stats: .288 average (154 hits in 534 at bats), .348 OBP, .833 OPS, 34 doubles, 4 triples, 21 home runs, 107 runs batted in, 5 stolen bases

The Facts: Signed by the Seattle Mariners as an undrafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 1994;  Opening Day Age: 23

The Case:  Home runs, total bases (259) and RBI are team records.

 

Jaime Bubela - 2001

The Stats: .304 average (161 hits in 530 at bats), .357 OBP, .791 OPS, 27 doubles, 12 triples, 6 home runs, 68 runs batted in, 34 stolen bases

The Facts: Seattle Mariners 7th round draft pick in 2000 out of Baylor University;  Opening Day Age: 23

The Case:  Second most hits, triples, and runs (96) in team history and is in the top ten for total bases (230), batting average, and stolen bases.
