Dayton (28-27) sent nine men to the plate and scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning off Rattlers starting pitcher Austin Ross. The inning started with a leadoff single and a fly ball to center. A grounder to short was booted for an error to put two runners on with one out. Then, Tucker Barnhart singled to center to drive in the first run. Another single loaded the bases.
Theo Bowe pulled an 0-2 pitch from Ross into the corner in right for a double that cleared the bases for a 4-0 Dayton lead. One out later, Billy Hamilton blooped in a single to center and the Dragons had a 5-0 lead.
Barnhart stepped up with runners at first and second in the third inning and doubled to right to knock in two more runs and knock Ross out of the game.
Dayton added another run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Jaren Matthews.
Wisconsin (28-27) struggled to get anything going against Corcino. The Dragons starter didn't walk a batter and faced two batters over the minimum of 21 in his seven innings of work.
Tyler Roberts drove in a run with a single in the top of the eighth inning against Dayton reliever Pat Doyle. Wisconsin went on to load the bases with no outs against Doyle and the top order coming to the plate. However, Doyle struck out the next three batters to leave the bases loaded and keep Dayton in front 8-1.
